Columbus, born in 1451, was the son of a weaver, and after years of lobbying, he finally received the patronage of the Spanish crown to sail west to the eastern continent he had dreamed of. After more than seventy days of drifting, he finally set foot on the longed-for island, where the people were half-naked, their faces painted with oil and their heads stuck with brightly colored feathers.
Columbus believed that he had reached India and called these people “Indians”.
Columbus returned to familiar lands in 1493, and the port of Palos welcomed him in triumph. He brought back seeds of tobacco, corn, potatoes, and a few Indians. He waved to the people on the shore, the crowning moment of his life. He saluted the Spanish crown with a condescending knee and a look of triumph in his eyes.
Columbus believed to his dying day that he had reached India, but the Italian explorer Amerigo later pointed out his mistake: it was a land that Europeans had never set foot in. So, the New World was eventually named after Amerigo and called “Amerika”. That is, what we now call “America” continent.
A wrong understanding brings wrong results, and the Metaverse implementation needs to go in the right direction.
In 2021, at the end of July, rct AI hosted the MayFlower to the Metaverse Cruise as scheduled. During the two-hour cruise, we had a full exchange of views with a large number of pioneers from the gaming, technology, and investment sectors, sharing with each other numerous understandings, layouts, and outlooks about the Metaverse.
This is a review of the entire event, and we hope to share and pass on the unforgettable memories of our rct AI voyage to more like-minded friends. In the future we have more possibilities to support each other and move forward together, and more and bigger stages are waiting for us to meet.
From the 15th century, when people raced towards the New World, to today, when we are gathered here to journey together to the Metaverse. Each generation has challenged, in its own way, the unknown and passionate age of the Great Voyage.
Since Roblox announced its IPO in March this year, Metaverse has become more and more the focus of attention across industries. Entrepreneurs and investors in gaming, social, blockchain, and other industries have been eager to take the plunge; countless future-focused people want to be the first to touch the worlds depicted in Ready Player One, Tron, and Westworld.
As a member of the Metaverse community, rct AI has a unique understanding of this. As we use AI to provide solutions for the gaming industry, we are also using AI to generate content AIGC to define our own Metaverse.
We firmly believe that the next generation of gaming experiences will inevitably be more open, immersive and intelligent, and that human interaction with virtual worlds will become more dynamic and diverse. However, traditional technologies and ways of working cannot reach this point.
To achieve this vision, rct AI is building products and solutions to work with developers around the world to create a truly dynamic and intelligent Metaverse using AIGC.
With a long-term development perspective, rct AI has identified and clarified a trend through its own research, industry exchanges and application practices: as technology develops and advances, digital content is taking up a larger and larger part of our lives.
At this current stage, we continue to advance the digital transformation of the real world through the use of online meetings, live streaming, cameras, etc.; and when the real world has gone through this current digital stage, we will depart for a more native virtual world.
For the native virtual world, we shape the end point: we hope that in the process of creating the native virtual world, we can satisfy most of the human needs in the digital world and also feed the real world, so that people in the real world can gain abundance and peace.
At this level, we believe that the three key fundamental building blocks of the Metaverse are AIGC, DAO, and Cloud, which together enable the Metaverse to meet its three key characteristics: scale, self-growth, and perpetuity.
The weapon that the rct AI relies on: the Chaos Box
Chaos Box is rct AI’s own algorithmic framework, which includes a series of AI technologies such as Deep Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Recommendation Algorithm.
Without any pre-set scripts or behavior trees, the Chaos Box can command the NPCs in the game to interact with the player in real-time and intelligently, giving the player an unprecedented sense of immersion. We also use the Chaos Box as the infrastructure for the Metaverse, one of the core technologies in the AI-Generated Content space.
In September 2020, we did a demo of the technology called The Extractors using the Chaos Box.
In The Extractors, the player takes the role of the robber “Chance” and his partner “Dozer” and enters an escape room scenario. In this game, in addition to the player, the other four characters (robber’s accomplice, bank teller, manager, passerby) are driven by AI, each of them has a pre-determined persona and personality, such as the passerby customer is timid but greedy for money, the teller is a fledgling newcomer to the workplace.
The entire game flow will change in real time depending on the player’s behavior. You can do anything the rules allow, such as robbing passers-by, verbally threatening tellers, shooting lobby managers, etc.; AI-driven NPCs will perform a variety of amazingly different scenarios based on the differences in players’ subtle activities: for example, passers-by joining the robbery gang halfway, tellers stealing the bank’s property in the chaos, robbers turning around and running away halfway ……
In a game with Chaos Box technology, anything can happen and the player will experience a dramatically different storyline each time. Chaos Box can generate such freely interacting NPCs in batches without pre-set scripts and by setting parameters for the AI alone.
To better deliver this experience to game developers, rct AI has created the Morpheus Cloud platform, which enables “personalized virtual character configuration”, “large-scale deployment of intelligent virtual characters, virtual creatures, and intelligent virtual environments”, “real-time player interaction”, and “data processing and user preference analysis” for the operational phase of the game.
Currently, we provide various solutions including “intelligent NPC generation” and “intelligent object generation” for MMO, RPG, SLG, dialogue development, auto chess, Roguelike and other types of games.
At the same time, with our self-developed dialogue system and GPT-3 provided by OpenAI, our solutions also cover a wide range of needs such as “intelligent plot generation” and “intelligent text generation”.
In addition, we have many collaborations in “ intelligent music generation “, “ intelligent testing “, and “ intelligent data platform “, which includes the application of recommendation algorithms.
In the process of exploring and creating the Metaverse, we believe that Virtual Beings will be the first natives of the Metaverse. In response, we developed Meta Being, a standardized product that uses deep learning algorithms to generate content and has a sophisticated dialogue system module.
In the traditional digital carrier, whether it is some IP or the NFT field that everyone has been focusing on lately, we have added a dialogue system to it to give it character and life, making the static digital carrier come to life for everyone. This not only increases the interactivity between NFT and collectors, but also enhances the value of NFT itself.
We already have a great success story in the NFT field. On May 23rd of this year, at the world’s first auction dedicated to NFT encrypted art held by Yongle, the virtual human “Nüwa” created by rct AI in collaboration with Song Ting, a well known Chinese digital artist, became the highest priced digital work sold at the auction.
In addition, this year we also created a new to-C brand “KUROSEMI”, through which we will continue to export some of our self-developed games to the industry in the future. These games are not large scale or commercially oriented in the traditional sense, but are based on Chaos Box to explore some core gameplay.
For example, we have shown “Baby Not Bad” at this year’s ChinaJoy. As the name suggests, this is a game to take care of the “rebellious child”, he will come up with various ways to cause trouble, and the player needs to use various props in the game scene to save the child.
Baby Not Bad” does not have a fixed plot, everything happens in an emergent way. There are hundreds of interactive items in the game, all of which are set to have certain functions and physical characteristics and can interact with other items, such as books that burn when touched by flames and knives that can cut open gas cans, etc. The child is controlled by AI, which will learn the logic of the player’s behavior and become more and more difficult to deal with in each game.
As a start-up team, we have developed several product lines that step into the future. All of this has been achieved based on our core technology, Chaos Box.
Of course, we have positioned ourselves in the Metaverse as more of an infrastructure builder, but we don’t want to be the only team. The Metaverse needs more builders, and we look forward to having more “adversaries” on the AIGC path with us in the future.
Last but not least
It wasn’t easy to come to this year’s ChinaJoy after the double whammy of the typhoon and the epidemic.
But even so, we still met many of our fellow persistent pursuers at the event and had a wonderful journey.
The event started boarding at 7:00 and sailed promptly at 8:00, but guests were already arriving early around 6:00.
It was just after 7:00, and the cruise lobby was already crowded with people.
After exchanging opinions with our friends, we became more and more convinced that what we are doing is meaningful and valuable.
Faced with such a grand proposition as Metaverse, it is hard not to feel excited, thrilled and teary-eyed. rct AI will persistently walk on this right path in the future, using AIGC to explore more possibilities of the boundary of human-virtual world interaction.
At 10:00 p.m., near the cruise ship’s return to the port, rct AI reluctantly said goodbye to each and every guest. the Huangpu River on July 31 seemed just as beautiful as it was on July 30.
For humans in 2021, the Metaverse is not so much an “object” or “thing” as it is a “concept”, an imagining of the future shape of the virtual world, projected through the walls of time and night.
However, Metaverse is more than just a definition of a fantasy. The reason why this concept has exploded in a short period of time and become the direction that more and more people are eagerly pursuing is that we all understand that this future is not far away. Maybe in 10 years, maybe in less than 20 years, we will have enough technology to step into this new space and time.
In total, we received nearly 3,000 boarding requests and over 60,000 views, and we received the highest number of views on the web on Huodongxing. We were very humbled and surprised by the amount of attention we received.
We would like to express our gratitude and respect to all of you who viewed, registered, and shared the rct AI event. We will continue to strive to live up to the expectations of this huge attention and inspiration, and leave a lasting footprint on the road to the Metaverse.
Although the event in the form of a cruise ship brought a charming experience, we regret that we could not invite more people to drink and celebrate due to the constraints of the cruise ship venue. This is our biggest regret and the biggest loss of this trip.
